Portrait Artist Tess Greig

About

Born into a family of artists and actors I took early inspiration from my mother, a successful and highly regarded portrait painter and sculptor. Being surrounded by my mother's work and having a natural ability to capture human expression, allowed me to develop my own individual style from an early age. Following the completion of a Foundation Course at Chelsea Arts College in 2002, I have been consistently commissioned by both private and commercial clients. I take commissions from all over the UK but also internationally including Australia and the US.

I am fascinated by faces, be it that of a person or an animal, and love painting and drawing them. My goal has always been to produce portraits that 'capture' the subject's expression and character, and I'm so pleased that clients tell me that I've achieved this every time. I enjoy working in all mediums, from pencil to pastel for traditional portraiture, to acrylic and ink for a more contemporary style.

Alongside the commissions, I also like to paint large scale works on canvas - which has led to my work being exhibited. This has provided me with the opportunity to expand ideas, and to experiment with various mediums, to which I developed a unique style of contemporary portraiture. See my 'acrylic portrait paintings' gallery for examples of this style.

I live in Marlow, Buckinghamshire (UK) with my husband
and our two children.
